You will arive in this Westport on an Amtrak Train "The Adirondack", one of only 3 International trains in North America. If you stayed on-board, you would be in Montreal, Canada, in just a few hours.
Step-off your train and into the historic 1876 former Delaware and Hudson Railroad depot. The freight house now houses the Depot Theatre, for more than 40 years bringing professional Theatre to the North Country - actors arrive by train from New York City, and just across the street are the Essex County Fairgrounds, where for five days in August, you will be treated to an old-fashiled County Fair - complete with .....rides, animals, and, lots of FUN food. RIGHT down the street is Lake Champlain, our Sixth Great Lake - and nearby is a Ferry to Vermont OR turn LEFT out the station driveway, and in less than 1 hour you will be in Lake Placid, NY, home to the Winter Olympics in 1936 and 1980.
